Retaining Wall Systems

MSE and structural retaining wall systems engineered for some of the largest, most complex sites in the Omaha metro.

Overview

Built around our own crews and fleet.

We build mechanically stabilized earth (MSE), gravity, and structural retaining wall systems on some of the largest and most difficult sites in the region. Working from the project engineering, our crews handle complex grade changes and tight tolerances — the kind of structural wall work general contractors and developers can’t leave to chance.

What we do

Our retaining wall systems scope.

Specialized scopes we handle for general contractors, developers, and public agencies.

01

MSE Retaining Walls

We build mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall systems to project engineering, managing reinforced backfill, facing, and drainage across large grade changes. MSE walls are a cost-effective, proven solution for the tall, heavily loaded walls common on major civil sites.

  • Wall excavation and foundation prep
  • Geogrid-reinforced soil construction
  • Select and granular backfill placement
  • Compaction to spec
  • Wall drainage systems
  • Block and large-block facing systems
02

Structural & Gravity Walls

For sites where MSE isn’t the fit, we build structural and gravity retaining wall systems engineered for difficult terrain and demanding loads. Our experience on some of the metro’s largest, most complex walls means general contractors can hand off the toughest structural scope with confidence.

  • Redi-Rock and large-block gravity walls
  • Structural segmental block walls
  • Multi-tiered wall systems
  • Flowable fill and stabilized aggregate reinforcement
  • Walls supporting footings and building loads

Bellevue Bay Waterpark

Bellevue, NE

Earthwork for the Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterpark at Bellevue Bay, a city-owned, 140,000-square-foot indoor and outdoor waterpark at the center of Bellevue’s 575-acre Good Life District. Leick crews handled the basement excavation, basement backfill, and retaining walls.

South Omaha Trail Wall System

Omaha, NE

The project consisted of an engineered, multi-tiered Redi-Rock retaining wall system for the City of Omaha’s South Omaha Trail, supporting bridge footings across 20 feet of grade change. Reinforcement methods included flowable fill mass extenders for gravity block walls, geogrid-reinforced walls with granular backfill, and granular backfill for gravity walls.

Structural Wall Building Site

Pottawattamie County, IA

The project consisted of overexcavation of a building site and construction of structural segmental block walls up to 15 feet tall to support building loads. Existing utilities and property-line conflicts required engineering for tight spaces; clean limestone, geogrid, and stabilized aggregate were used to build the engineered walls.
